Race starts at 4:00
Girls at 4:00
Boys at 4:40
please plan to arrive early, but be sure to spread out. There is a race that is going on from 2:30-4:00, then we take over at 4:00. Please be sure to arrive and be on your skis early, but stay out of the way of any racers. They have priority on the trail. You can go out and ski the creek or lake trails as they won’t have racers on them or you can ski on the race course, but do it out of the way of the races. Race times will be posted here once we know more.
The race course will be the valley (manmade loop) and the full northern lights. I will post a map here later in the week.
Make sure to read and understand the expectations for competition laid out in the MSHSL directives in the documents tab. Here are a few highlights:
1. Athletes can race without a mask on, but need to wear one before and after the race as soon as possible. When it is their turn to ski, they can remove the mask, but then when they finish, they must put back on.
2. No standing around talking, hugging, etc. after the race in groups especially from other teams. It is always good to congratulate, but please put your mask back on and make sure you are fully socially distanced please.
3. We will release 2 skiers every 20 seconds, but only 8 skiers from a team at a time, then there will be a gap, then the next 8 from each team (we will take other team’s spots in later groups of 8 to ensure all our skiers can ski), etc.
4. Spectators are allowed, but they need to be well away from skiers (they say 12 feet) and they must not be at the start finish line area. The technical rule says spectators should not have direct contact with any athlete during the meet as the contact is difficult to track. Also, not mentioned in the MSHSL rules, but please avoid walking on the ski trails. They are thin as it is, please walk next to the ski trails out of respect for Three Rivers, their hard work, and all skiers using the trails.
5. Also, all spectators must wear masks and socially distance from one another.
Elm Creek is asking that we park at the beach whenever possible and that includes on these race days. We will be running a 1 loop course so parents can spread out. Again, no parents at the start/finish area. You will need to spread out along the course, but do NOT walk on the ski trails, walk next to them please.
Check the schedule tab for your wave and start time. Do not show up to the start line before when other waves are starting. please try to be respectful of the racers that are starting.
