Week 5!

8 Dec 2024 by Matt Gifford

We finally got on snow this week! What a great time we had this week with all of you. You did so well getting to practice and adjusting to the new schedule in a days time. We saw some great work out of our veterans who were excited for some snow! We saw you all get there on time and even stay a little late to get some extra time on snow. That will pay dividends later in the season. Keep up the good work. Also, you all did great working hard with perseverance during that really hard practice on Wednesday in the cold and wind. I was so proud of you keeping good attitudes and working through tough circumstances. It will help us ski faster, but it also proved that you can do hard things. When tough circumstances come in life, remember to keep a good attitude, lean on the people around you, and dig in just like you did this week.
Beginners, you also showed tons of perseverance all week. Along with managing tough conditions on Wednesday, you are learning something new and that is never easy and always comes with lots of challenges. You all had great attitudes all week. You are starting to understand that you need to take constant criticism as we are trying our best to help ALL of you learn this challenging sport. You are doing great! We saw tons of progress in all of you this week! Keep working at it, keep those positive attitudes and take as much coaching as possible. You can also apply those skills outside of our sport as well. When being challenged outside of skiing, keep your positive attitude, find people that can help you, and ask for help!

A few reminders:
1. The schedule is all updated. We have night practice every night except no practice on Wednesday. Be sure to arrive and get on snow before 7:30 but we won’t meet up until 7:45.
2. On Wednesday, we have a meet for our top 15 from last year. We will post those skiers tomorrow morning. Everyone else, you are welcome to come and watch the meet, but please wait to ski until after the meet is over. We are only supposed to have 30 skiers on snow during the meet.
3. We have our planned large team bonding trip to Mora on Saturday Dec. 21. We are keeping an eye on snow and whether they will have enough to host us. They make snow and might have enough. We should know more later in the week. Please keep you eye out though because we will need to take inventory of who is coming fairly quickly if we end up being able to go.

As always, please feel free to email me if you have any questions or post in the chat as many have started to do. Those are great ways to get your questions answered. See you all on the snow on Monday!
